This piece embodies a sense of uplift, especially in the recent market lows. It is meant as an abstract artwork, open to individual interpretation. Yet, personally, in this piece I envision a portal from someone's mind near a spirit, hauling its bags, as it is cast out of the mind/mental load--being evicted, as it were.

Often times, I am inspired to code works of a certain style or aesthetic, but in rare occasions generative outputs themselves are inspiration for further exploration. I spent countless hours exploring my custom noise algorithm before finding this output.
The "coincidence" theme offered me the opportunity to savor exploring the scope of generative outputs. My intent was to express the range of a custom algorithm's potential by creating a newly distinctive type of art that coincidentally began with familiar roots. To do this, I started with the basis of previous code I created, and experimented by customizing the noise (a core element of generative art). I spent countless hours fine tuning the algorithm and curating this piece.
Included and embedded within the artwork is a dithered photograph from a coincidental uplifting encounter during a personal time of low spirits. This lovely and inspirational scene served as a reminder to appreciate the small things in life.

The owner of "Eviction of Low Spirits" can easily extract the hidden image with my free custom GIMP plug-in. (instructions: here)
To embed the photograph:
- I chose to dither the photo as a method of image compression--using only black and white colors while maintaining the illusion of shading/grays/depth.
- I then hid the image in the green channel of my generative output using LSB steganography.
"Eviction of Low Spirits" is effectively two artworks in one.
Keep your spirits up, everyone 😇
